What Are Passkeys?
Passkeys are a new, safer way to sign in to apps and websites without needing a password. Instead, they use your device’s face recognition, fingerprint, or device PIN to authenticate you.
They’re:
Phishing-resistant: no passwords to steal
Faster: log in instantly with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device lock
Cross-platform: works across Apple, Google, and Microsoft devices
How Passkeys Work
You sign in once with your current method (username + password or SSO)
You're prompted to create a passkey
From then on, you can sign in using biometric authentication or your device PIN
Passkeys are stored securely in your device’s built-in password manager (like iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or Samsung Pass) and synced across devices when you're signed in.
How to Set Up a Passkey
Open the AOK app. You may be greeted with an Enable passkeys prompt.
Click Enable and follow the prompts to set up.
If you are not greeted by an Enable passkeys prompt, tap on the navigation menu (the three lines in the left corner) and select Settings.
Then tap Register Passkey and you will see the Enable passkeys prompt.
Tap Enable and approve using your fingerprint, face unlock, or screen lock pin.
Done! Your passkey is stored in your Google Password Manager and synced across your Android devices
⚠️ You must be signed in to your desired password manager (iCloud, Google, Samsung pass, etc.) and have screen lock enabled.
Using a Passkey to Sign In
When logging in:
Tap “Sign in”
Enter your email.
Approve with your biometric (Face ID / Fingerprint) or device PIN
That’s it—you’re in!
You can use your passkey on other devices too, even on desktop, as long as you’re signed into the same Apple or Google account.
FAQs
Can I still use my password?
Yes, passwords are still supported. But we recommend switching to passkeys for better security and ease.
What if I lose my device?
Because passkeys sync with your Apple or Google account, they’ll be available on any new device where you’re signed in. You can also create a new passkey anytime.
Your command can also wipe the app remotely, so the information remains secure until you get set up on a new device.
Is this secure?
Absolutely. Passkeys use public-key cryptography and are built to resist phishing and credential leaks.
