Who Can Use Chat

  • Available to all AOK users

  • App users only (chats are not delivered to SMS only users)

  • Supported on the AOK app and web browser

  • Users can message any app user within their command, regardless of team

What Chat Can Do

With AOK Chat, users can:

  • Send messages to one or more users

  • See message status indicators (sent, delivered, read)

How Chat Works

Tap the Chat Message icon in the bottom right corner.

Select any user in your command.

You can select up to 15 users per chat and make a group for them as well.

Send a chat message.

The conversation will instantly appear in both users’ chat lists.

Conversations are automatically sorted by most recent activity.

  • Users can search the conversations list by conversation name or participants

  • Users can search for specific messages within a conversation

Real Time Messaging

  • Messages appear instantly on the recipient’s screen

  • Read and delivery statuses update immediately when the chat is open

Message Status Indicators

Each message shows its current status:

  • Sending: Message is in progress and shown with an animated spinner (typically when the user is offline or has a poor connection)

  • One checkmark: Message successfully sent to the server

  • Two checkmarks: Message delivered to the recipient

  • Read: Message marked as read when the recipient opens the conversation

  • Failed: Message could not be sent

  • Delivered messages continue to use the double checkmark.
