Introducing AOK: CHAT

We are proud to announce the release of a major milesone for the AOK platform, AOK Chat is officially live!

AOK members across the force have asked for a fast, informal way to coordinate inside AOK. Today, that capability is here.

AOK Chat is the real-time messaging layer of AOK, purpose-built for quick coordination between individuals while maintaining the security, control, and operational integrity required in military environments.

Update the app to access AOK Chat. Learn more here.

What makes AOK Chat different

  • Real-time, two-person messaging between registered AOK app users

  • App-only by design, ensuring identity, access control, and auditability

  • Available on personal devices, government computers, and workstations

  • Optimized for informal back-and-forth, clarification, and rapid coordination

  • Operates entirely within the AOK security boundary

This is not a workaround or bolt-on. Chat is a first-class capability, engineered as part of the AOK system.

If your government network currently blocks AOK access, contact us and we will work directly with your IT team so you can use the full potential of AOK at your workstation.

Why this matters

Operational communication does not always require formal tasking or structured messaging, but it always requires security, accountability, and trust.

AOK Chat keeps informal coordination inside the same system already relied on for mission-critical communications.

No fragmentation.

No loss of visibility.

No tradeoff between speed and compliance.

What to expect

AOK Chat is designed to feel immediate and intuitive, while still meeting the operational and security expectations of the enterprise. This is the foundation for faster coordination, reduced friction, and stronger cohesion across the force.

We’re excited to put this capability in your hands—and even more excited to see how you use it.

OCTOBER 2025

QR Code Onboarding is here!

Onboarding your members is now faster and simpler. The new QR Code Onboarding feature allows users to scan a code to join your All Hands and Team directly, no links or manual entry required.

QR codes can be generated for:

  • The command All Hands

  • Your Department Team & All Hands if new, or just your team if they are already in the command.

Print the code for in-person events and hang it at the door.

CAC login coming soon!

AOK will soon support Common Access Card (CAC) login. Members whose DoDID is included in their onboarding information will be able to access AOK directly using their CAC credentials. This enhancement will streamline authentication and further align AOK with DoD security standards.

Never Lose Your Work Again!

Users can now move between sections of AOK without losing their progress on drafted messages. The new Saved Work capability preserves message drafts automatically — even if the computer is shut down or the session times out.

This improvement ensures a smoother, more reliable workflow for anyone creating or editing communications.

Enhanced Bulletin Board: Acknowledgements and Tracking

The Bulletin Board has been upgraded with new capabilities designed to strengthen accountability and visibility across your teams.

Leaders can now:

  • Request acknowledgement for posts or resources shared in any Bulletin Board section.

  • Track who has seen and acknowledged each post or resource.

  • Export acknowledgment data to review and report on engagement.

This enhancement was originally developed to support Required Reading, but its applications extend far beyond that. Leaders are already using it to streamline:

  • Onboarding for new team members

  • Command notices and important announcements

  • Safety updates and readiness communications

These new tools ensure critical information is not just sent — it’s seen and confirmed.
