How to Manage Your Roster for Optimal AOK Program Performance

Steps to ensure operational efficiency and up-to-date data

Updated: October 2025

Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date roster in the Adyton Operations Kit (AOK), especially within Mustr, is essential to operational readiness and mission success. This guide outlines best practices to ensure your team can communicate efficiently and respond rapidly when it counts.

Why Accurate Rosters Matter

Efficient recall and deployment rely on trusted personnel data.

The difference between a seamless 30-minute recall and a cumbersome 6-hour phone tree? Your AOK roster.

Regardless of unit-specific DoD reporting requirements, these best practices apply universally across the force.

Roster Management: Step-by-Step

Integrate AOK Into In-Processing & Out-Processing

Embed AOK into your unit’s standard workflows to automate readiness.

In-Processing

  • Add new users to your command. They’ll be added to “All Hands” automatically.

  • Assign users to their correct department or division teams.

  • For Khaki (leadership) personnel, designate them as team leads to enable decentralized management.

Out-Processing

Empower Team Leads

Team leads are your first line of readiness. Make sure they know their tools.

  • Add/Remove users from teams or command

    • After inviting a new user, select which teams they should join.

  • Export team rosters

    • Go to the Team screen → Click on the Team > Tap "Manage Team" → Tap "Manage" (top right) → Tap “Email me a full list of team members

  • Build accurate team structure

    • AOK supports 3 levels:

      • Parent Team (e.g., Department)

      • Child Team (e.g., Division)

      • Grandchild Team (e.g., Duty Station)

Note: Team members can now remove themselves from any team they’re a part of, no need to wait for a Team/Org Lead or Org Admin to remove them.

To do this, they can go to the Teams tab, tap the three dots next to the team name, and select Leave Team.

  • Schedule AOK training for new leaders through Adyton Support.

Use Bulk Upload for Fast, Large-Scale Updates (only available on desktop)

The Bulk Upload tool makes it easy to sync rosters at scale

Location: Go to the People screen → Tap More actions → Tap Bulk manage members

What you can do:

  • Add new users

They'll get a welcome text, give them a heads up so they don't delete it!

  • Flag users for removal

Those not in the file will be identified for deletion, you can skip deletions if needed.

  • Update existing info

AOK will prompt if data like names or phone numbers differ. You can edit it by double clicking in the cell.

  • Catch errors

Missing or invalid data is flagged. This can be skipped or corrected.

Pro Tip: Use the “Department” column in your CSV to automatically build teams and assign members during upload.

Be sure to skip deleting anyone who is not in that department!

📝 Note: Removing someone from the command deletes them from all teams. Removing them from a team only affects that team.

Verify Using Exports (Optional but Useful)

While no longer essential due to bulk upload, exports can still assist with local verification, audits, or troubleshooting message delivery issues.

Exports are still helpful for:

  • Local roster verification

  • Audits

  • Troubleshooting undelivered messages

Export Options:

  • Entire Command (Org Directory Report):

Go to the People screen → Click +More Actions in the bottom right corner → Click Email me full list of members

  • Specific Team (Team Report):

Go to the Teams screen → Click on the three vertical dots (⋮) next to the Team name → Click Manage Team → Click Manage → Click Email me full list of team members

For details on what’s included, refer to: Understanding the Data in Excel Exports

You can compare these files with other spreadsheets if needed using Excel or tools like Microsoft’s Spreadsheet Compare.

Roster management in AOK is about more than logistics, it's about maintaining mission-critical continuity. By embedding AOK into your workflows, empowering your leaders, and using tools like Bulk Upload and Exports, your unit will always be ready to act.
