COMING SOON: How to Invite Members Using QR Codes

This guide explains how to generate, use, and manage QR code invites.

Updated this week

What Are Invite QR Codes?

Invite QR Codes are scannable codes that allow users to join:

  • An organization (via an Org-level QR code)

  • A specific team (via a Team-level QR code)

Who Can Generate a QR Code?

  • Organization Leaders: Can generate QR codes for the entire organization or specific teams.

  • Team Leaders: Can generate QR codes only for their own teams.

How to Generate an Invite QR Code

To invite to an Org:

Tap on the three lines in top left corner to open your navigation menu and click on Connect.

Then select Code. To generate a QR code to join your Org, tap Generate QR Code.

You can also navigate to the Connect page from the People's page by clicking the + button and tapping on Invite members via QR code.

Next, input the maximum number of invitees who can use the QR code and acknowledge the Security Notice.

Note, the max number of invitees per QR code is up to 9,999 users.

The QR code is valid for 24 hours and can be revoked any time prior to meeting the 24 hour countdown.

To Invite to a Team:

Tap on the three lines in top left corner to open your navigation menu and click on Teams.

Locate the team you want to make a QR Code and tap on the three dots next to the team name. Select Manage team.

Tap on the QR Code icon next to Manage.

You'll be redirected to the Connect: Code page where you can tap on Generate QR Code to create a QR invite code for your team.

Only Org and Team Leaders are authorized to generate a QR code for their team.

Sharing the QR Code

You can share the QR code in three ways:

  • Mobile Interface: Share directly from your device.

  • Print It: Print the QR code for physical distribution.

  • Desktop Download: Click "Download QR Code" on the Connect page to save it locally.

Security Guidelines

To keep your organization secure:

  • Only post in secure, access-controlled environments (e.g., internal portals, company chat with permission levels).

  • Do NOT share in public, unmonitored, or external channels (e.g., public forums, social media, or email threads).

Revoking a QR Code

You can revoke a QR code at any time before the 24 hours are up if it’s no longer needed or if you believe it may have been compromised.

⚠️ Note: Revoking a QR code only prevents future use. Anyone who already used the code and joined will remain in the organization or team.

QR Code Expiry

  • Each QR code is valid for 24 hours from the time of generation.

  • After expiration, the QR code cannot be used, even if the invite limit hasn't been reached. You will have to generate a new QR code.

Best Practices

  • Set a reasonable invite limit based on your use case.

  • Revoke unused codes proactively if there's any doubt about their security.

  • Always double-check that you're generating the correct type of invite (Org vs. Team).
